The introduction of 3D CBCT in dentistry has changed the endodontic practice. The many advantages of CBCT in complex endodontic situations make this technology acceptable, given the high spatial resolution and the low dose. However, care should be given in the image manipulation prior to continue with the final treatment. The many pitfalls will be addressed in this course.

De intrede van lage dosis 3D CBCT beeldvorming in de tandheelkunde heeft de endodontische diagnostiek en planning drastisch veranderd. De vele voordelen van 3D beeldvorming in de complexe endodontische planning worden met deze technologie meer aanvaardbaar gezien de lage dosis en de uitstekende resolutie.  Doch dient goed gelet te worden op het manipuleren van deze beelden en de interpretatie ervan alvorens over te gaan tot een definitieve planning. Bovendien is een hoge resolutie vaak vereist voor endodontishe planning wat gepaard gaat met een hogere dosis. In deze cursus  wordt dieper ingegaan op de manipulatie van 3D beelden voor endodontische diagnostiek, het optimaliseren van protocols en het geavanceerde plannen (virtuele patient) in de endodontie. 

L’introduction de l’imagerie CBCT 3D à faible dose en dentisterie a radicalement changé le diagnostic et la planification endodontiques. Les nombreux avantages de l’imagerie 3D dans la planification endodontique complexe deviennent plus acceptables avec cette technologie, étant donné sa faible dose et son excellente résolution.  Toutefois, la manipulation de ces images et leur interprétation doivent faire l’objet d’une attention particulière avant la planification finale. De plus, une haute résolution est souvent nécessaire pour la planification endodontique, qui implique une dose plus élevée. Dans ce cours, la manipulation d’images 3D pour le diagnostic endodontique, l’optimisation des protocoles et la planification avancée (patient virtuel) en endodontie seront abordés.
